I teach two courses in Creative Non-Fiction Writing at City University in London: a ten-week evening course in Narrative Non-Fiction, and part of the M.A. in Creative Writing (Non-Fiction). I also teach Creative Writing as a Level 2 distance-learning course at the Open University. Follow the links for more information about all of these.

I occasionally run one-off workshops, designed to be fun and practical, and to suit writers of all genres and levels of experience.

The fullest is Writing Life, which takes place over a weekend or sometimes a week. It explores ways of writing about your own life or the lives of others through biography, fiction or memoir. A follow-up, Writing About People, takes these themes further.

Bringing Non-Fiction to Life is a one-day or weekend workshop, looking at techniques for forming readable, exciting narrative out of any kind of factual material.

Bringing Research to Life concentrates on how to cope with heaps of research notes - anything taken from external sources such as books, archives, the internet, newspapers and talking to people.

Bringing Characters to Life in Non-Fiction looks at how to develop well-rounded, vivid characters - a skill just as important in non-fiction as in fiction.
